How do you safely dispose of a microwave oven?

Microwave oven starts “cooking” when the door is open. I’m afraid it is emitting radiation! Microwave is less than 4 years old. I guess the only option is getting rid of it. How do you dispose of it safely?

    could there be food stuck in the mechanism that senses the door’s position? There are no harmfull chemicals or radioactive elements in your microwave, and any radiation it creates is made with the electricty supplied to it. Any dumpster will do.

    If you want to get rid of it just throw it in the garbage. Microwaves can only emit microwave radiation when there is a power source, there is no radioactive material in a microwave.
    However, repairing your microwave is a simple task. Sounds like the switch that tells the microwave the door is closed is broken. This can be replaced just take it to a repair shop.
